Intense, physics-based hockey matches

Gaming software giant EA Games unveils yet another addition to their hockey series—NHL 24. This premium sports title is revealed to be released across a number of platforms. While not much is known about it, it’s confirmed to have Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar as its cover athlete.

Packed with new mechanics, realistic animations

Joining the ranks of NHL 06, 07, and 20, among others, NHL 24 promises intense, action-packed physics-based gameplay. Infused with the all-new Exhaust Engine, it introduces game-changing mechanics that produce a more authentic hockey-playing experience. Said engine includes the Sustained Pressure and Goalie Fatigue systems.

There are more than 75 animations that will show the close-up effects of these systems in-game. Besides that, the game will also emphasize physical contact and the lifelike realism of body checks. However, this can create rather violent scenes. Plus, the availability on multiple platforms will allow fun, multiplayer cross-play.

Meet Bobby Orr, Kingston Frontenacs in the game

Continuing to deliver to fans’ expectations, NHL 24 adds new content. For starters, one of the most requested hockey icons has made his video game debut–Hall of Famer and Boston Bruins defenseman Bobby Orr. He is free for all players and all you need to do is to log in before January 2, 2024. He will be joining the Bruins Alumni Team, tying up with Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky with the highest ratings at 97 points overall.

Additionally, the updated roster of the Kingston Frontenacs also joins the fray. This includes fresh rookies like Ethan Weir and JJ Salajko, now playable in the game with their likenesses and all. Other than that, the fresh 1.1.1 Patch has made significant improvements, such as the addition of Hybrid Controls and Goalie Controls to match other playstyles. A couple of bugs were also resolved.

Already promising

Despite not being released yet, NHL 24 already lays the groundwork for high-stakes, fierce, and even realistic hockey matches for both professionals and amateurs. With brand-new technology embedded in its code and a hockey superstar gracing its cover, it’s surely an EA title that warrants the hype and anticipation.
